The bright side [22 Sep 2006|12:00pm]
God is sovereign!! I have very recently put my external harddrive together, gotten it up and working, created my laptop's system restore disks, and backup up my entire harddrive. I've also uploaded the work for my current client onto my personal website for testing plus done all of the updates for my maintenance clients. I'm grateful to report that although my pants are now still damp, that God was looking out for me and nudged me enough- early enough- to do all of that and He has therefore protected my most important data. Thank you, Lord, that I was obedient in this one thing :D

This morning, my company did a little experiment- no donuts. We had a meeting last Friday where the founder of our company said that he was not helping us by feeding us donuts on a weekly basis. He asked for suggestions on alternatives to the Friday donut. As someone who once was a (first Thursday) and then Friday donut girl, I was aware of the intense backlash that can occure during the abscence of donuts on donut day. Still, bravely I might add, I suggested organic bread.

I did my part, went to the store yesterday evening (amid the many things that I still would have to do once I arrived home), and brought in three kinds of organic bread, two organic jellies and some real, organic butter. There was some bread that was eaten. I've toasted three slices myself. The sad matter is that the bread should be toasted for optimal toastiness, but it takes a good 5 minutes for the bread to toast :( We only have one toaster and the people who sit next to the toaster are the biggest donut mutinest. They went out this morning and bought themselves their own source of refined sugar and white flower and set up their own spread in their space for the three of them. Therefore, when people come to the "bread table", the mutinest offer them a bagel or cookie instead. ::rolling eyes::

Still, I take none of this personally. It's not my job to force people into eating more healthily. I merely made a suggestion and followed through with it when asked to.

Silly email that made me chuckle [08 Aug 2006|02:39pm]
[ mood | tired ]

Supermarket Surroundsound
The new Supermarket near our house has an automatic water mister to keep the produce fresh. Just before it goes on, you hear the sound of distant thunder and the smell of fresh rain.

When you approach the milk cases, you hear cows mooing and witness the scent of fresh hay.

When you approach the egg case, you hear hens cluck and cackle and the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of bacon and eggs frying.

The veggie department features the smell of fresh buttered corn.

I don't buy toilet paper there any more.

There was a time when love meant nothing and all that mattered was the wind blowing through my hair.
Can't go back now.
I walk on.

Timeclocks and deadlines are the order of the day.
Deskwork and demons.
I walk on.

Five can't come faster when the boss is beating his breast and casting fury down my back.
Shake the dust from your feet.
Walk on.

Journaling for posterity's sake [28 Jun 2006|01:19pm]
[ mood | exhausted ]

It's a good thing to look back and know that I was exhausted last Wednesday, too. I've been reading "Movie Maker" magazine for a bit now and have learned quite a bit. I don't know when I will go to film school, but I had better start remembering to make more loan payments so that I can be available to go when God wants me to go. Looking up some schools and visualizing my life as it's changing before my eyes...

Pretty tired today. I have not gotten to bed on time in more days than I care to count. I'm being pulled along by my vitamins and water and maybe today was just not the day to fast. I'm actually tempted to ask for some caffeinated tea from Monique. It smelled delicious this morning as we stood be the free table each making our respective bowl of cereal and disscussing the maintenance of our offices large copier. Really corporate moment only next to the coffee maker and not the water cooler... and I guess making cereal at work is normally frowned upon :(

Did I mention that I was tired. I napped from 11 to 11:15 and thought that I was making some progress deconstructing my company's portal and rebuilding the functionality around my new design, but now I'm confused and the bit of rest I just grabbed by the pool is quickly wearing thin.

Looking forward to days in the sun! I've decide to bring some paints with me to Aruba and maybe to invest in a book for sketching and other forms of art.

I should stay in hiding [16 Jun 2006|11:05am]
[ mood | is working a mood? ]

Lately, it's like whenever I walk into the warehouse, people there are like "Good! So you're going to fix AB&C", but no, I'm there to fix XY&Z! When did AB&C become a problem? Are they looking for issues to tell me the minute I walk in the door? I keep telling people, if you want me to visit, you DON'T have to make up or "create" issues with your computer. I'm content to just pass by and say hi.

Again, I was trapped at the warehouse for longer than I'd intended to be there. Problem XYZ got fixed and ABC got looked at and discussed at length over the phone with my boss who every once in a while complained about the line of people in his doorway waiting to talk to him. I told him to put chairs out in the "hall" with a magazine rack. He asked Jesse to start handing folks numbers, lol. It was an amusing talk.

Then halfway through the serious part of the discussion I had to tell him that I'd call him right back b/c I had to potty. He was very diplomatic about it, hehe.

look at me making up for lost time... [15 Jun 2006|04:47pm]
[ mood | restless ]

Some blurbs about me from email today:

...The wedding's this weekend and I'm amped to be the lady in red! ...

Lately, I feel like I've been backburnering Him, like my mind is scattering and I don't have the patience to focus on spending time with Him. I hate these moments, but they are usually brought on by PMS and fatigue. Do you think God hates the roller coasters we keep getting on with Him? I wonder if I "roller coaster" other things in my life to? You think that means we lack balance? I feel like I'm always trying to get there...

Looking forward to some grilled asparagus for dinner!

A cat story [15 Jun 2006|11:48am]
[ mood | hungry ]

Last week, he squeezed through the patio door and ran off the deck (the dumb cat!) I was ready to go after him, but there were these two deer in our neighbor's backyard eating birdseed from the house that they put out. They would not move!!! One of them looked to be a fawn, so I didn't want to mess with the mother deer. I was screaming, "FRISKEY!!! COME HERE, NOW", and my mom's in the background like "Don't go out there!"

Finally, I yanked the door open when Friskey ran back to the grass on our side of the house (Did I mention that when he first ran to the neighbor's lawn that he saw the deer for himself and stood there frozen in fear, despite my calling him? ). I went out onto the patio, and stamped my feet while clapping my hands and the deer ran far enough away that I was able to safely come down the steps and yank Friskey out from under them- that's where he'd run to b/c he KNEW I was PISSED!

He was promptly bathed and then ignored for the rest of the night. That cat's going to make me nuts!!

May as well be Monday morning... [30 May 2006|09:51am]
[ mood | distressed ]

So a spider just crawled out from underneath my keyboard, sprinted the short distance to the edge of my desk and commacazzied (sp?) off the edge!!! I just had enough time to react, in what I'm still not sure wasn't an explitive (I've repented nonetheless), and forcefully slide back from my desk as it hit the floor and not my lap. Yeah- it's dead now.

sharon's love language quiz [25 May 2006|05:36pm]
[ mood | I'm outta here ]

The Five Love Languages

My primary love language is probably
Quality Time
with a secondary love language being
Words of Affirmation.

Complete set of results

Quality Time: 10
Words of Affirmation: 6
Acts of Service: 5
Physical Touch: 5
Receiving Gifts: 4

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

Take the quiz
